Mrs. Monique Elizabeth Lightbourne Leary is a devoted wife to Mr. Christopher Leary, proud mother of three sons—Christopher Jr., Jonathan, and Jordan—and grandmother to two precious granddaughters, Peyton and Morgan.
A woman of faith, she worships at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, serving on the Praise Team and Choir.
Professionally, Mrs. Leary retired as a Cultural Affairs Officer with the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture. She is highly accomplished academically, holding degrees in Business Administration and Management, an Executive MBA, and certifications as a Corporate Trainer, E-Learning Instructor, Organizational Specialist, Anti-Doping Officer, and USA Silver-Level Bowling Coach.
Following the example of her late mother, Mrs. Dorothy Lightbourne, she has dedicated her life to mentorship and community service, quietly assisting families in need, mentoring youth, and leading outreach efforts—most notably during Hurricane Dorian, when she coordinated relief support for hundreds of families. Affiliated with service organizations such as The Girls’ Brigade in the Bahamas and Turks & Cacios (President of the Grand Bahama District), Pilot International/Bahamas District, Anchor Clubs, just to name a few.
In the sporting arena, Mrs. Leary is a three-time Bahamas National Bowling Champion, an international medalist, and the first woman to compete in the USBC Open Championship. She represented The Bahamas globally for over 40 years as both athlete and coach, later serving as President of the Bahamas Bowling Federation and holding key leadership roles on international sporting board (Sports Administration and Management).
Her many honors include recognition and Inducted into the Bahamas National Sports Hall of Fame, The Bahamas Olympic Committee (Women in Sports Honoree), Pilot International Service Awards, and numerous national and international bowling titles. She is recently being honored as The Bahamas Governor General National Hero Service Award.
Above all, Mrs. Leary is celebrated for her humility, generosity, and lifelong service, leaving a legacy of faith, family, and excellence.
